Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a diploma in English literature. Mitchell started as a radio and TV reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976, she was a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). In Washington, she was appointed general reporter by NBC News two year later. In 1981, she began covering at the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the chief congressional Correspondent. She was made Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell was a host and panelist in the TV news program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a part of a panel discussion at the the 1988 Presidential Debates, which featured George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan who was former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first reporter to write about White House stories for NBC News during the time of Ronald Reagan as president from 1981-1988. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy stories such as arm control, budget taxes as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to various summits while in the company of the President Reagan along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
